In January 2000 Train Control Systems was  the first manufacturer to come out with the "direct plug" style decoder designed to directly plug into the 8 pin NMRA socket supplied with many different locomotives.  Since the original design many improvements have been made.  Now TCS is again offering new and better designs for this direct plug type decoder.  The DP2X is now standard with BEMF for even better slow speed control.  It is much smaller and thinner then its original version making it  even more suitable for fitting into locomotives.  The price has also decreased from $29.95  to $24.95 MSRP!   Pictured above is the original DP5X with the new DP2X and the M1 decoder for size comparisons. 

The DP2X is 1 amp continuous rating 2 amp peek. with two 100ma functions for the headlights.
