Picture 795-1 Hornby (-Triang) Sir Dinadan 4-6-0 Steam locomotive. (running number 795) I have left the tender out of the pictures because it has no pick-ups. This is quite an old locomotive, maybe 30 years old, (1976/77) It was made when Hornby was known as Triang-Hornby. It is a model of the southern region locomotive of the King Arthur Class.
Picture 795-2 To remove the body undo the slotted screw under the cab. The front is held in place by a chassis lug going through the plastic body just below the smokebox. Lift the rear of the body slightly and slide forward to clear the front lug then lift clear.
Picture 795-3 This locomotive is of the live chassis design. De-solder the red wire (1) at the motor terminal, and the joint of the red & brown wire and the capacitor (2), and the other end of the capacitor on the solder tag (3). (Discard the red wire and the capacitor).
Picture 795-4 Join the red decoder to the brown pick up wire, insulate the joint. Solder the black decoder wire to the solder tag. solder the orange decoder wire to the right hand side motor terminal (brush), and the grey to the left motor terminal (brush). Add an insulating sleeve to the left hand arm of the brush spring and ensure the original sleeving is in the correct place on the right hand arm of the spring. Test the installation.
Picture 795-5 I have kept the wiring tidy with small lengths of insulating sleeve, and have left the unused wires uncut but sleeved. The used wires were cut to length (approx. 50mm / 2" removed from the harness). I have used a small quantity of hot melt glue to hold the decoder inside the body shell. Replace body shell taking care that wires are not trapped or rubbing against the worm drive, re-fit screw under cab.
