We have information but no pictures at this time for the Kato C30-7 and Kato U30C
I just wanted to let you know I have now installed one of your classic N decoders in a Kato C30-7. I am working on a second install of the decoder into a U30C. Both of these locomotives use the same chassis.
I had to do some minor frame milling to make the wired part of the decoder sit flat and level on the frame. I used a Dremel for this work, but you could probably accomplish the task with a mill file as well. I also had to trim back a small portion of the light tube leading to the number boards in the cab. Without doing this, the extension of the decoder with the surface mounted LED attached interferes with the shell when you put it on the chassis.
Other than those two items, the only problem I had is not paying enough attention to the instructions. The C30-7 runs correctly, but backwards (I'll fix that with CV programming) because I installed the wired portion of the decoder in the wrong end (out of habit).
